The product

The platform we are building

One platform that brings your data together and keeps it clean, governed and ready to use, wherever you choose to run it. Built so it stays yours.

Why it matters

Many problems, one solution

A modern data landscape is large and fragmented. Building a data platform that genuinely works is complex and expensive, and most organisations never get there. The problems pile up fast:

  • Data scattered across a dozen tools
  • A dozen bills, a dozen integrations
  • Months of setup before the first dashboard
  • Specialist teams you cannot hire
  • Numbers no two teams agree on
  • Bad data reaching the boardroom
  • Pipelines that break silently
  • Every question a data-team ticket
  • Compliance done by hand
  • Proving who touched what
  • Erasure nobody can guarantee
  • Lock-in dressed up as convenience
  • Your data on someone else's terms
  • A foreign jurisdiction over your data
  • Reports you cannot quite trust
  • Maturity that stays out of reach

One solution

A mature data platform, without the multi-year build.

One platform that turns raw data into governed data products and that you own outright. The platform basis already underpins a growing product suite and is being hardened against the constraints of an air-gapped programme. You start with a working foundation rather than a blank sheet and keep sovereignty over every layer.

What it is

One system for all your data

It is a data platformA data platformA set of data services and operating practices that makes selected data discoverable, integrated, governed and usable for purposes such as reporting, exchange, automation and AI. It may be centralised, distributed or federated.Read more →: the one place where the data from across your organisation comes together to be stored, connected and put to use.

Portable

Open standards and open components. The platform is designed for a hyperscaler, an EU sovereign cloud and air-gapped use on your own hardware without being built around one provider.

Mature

Data contracts, quality validation, full telemetry, GDPR erasure and a supply chain you can audit. The unglamorous parts that keep a platform running.

Turnkey

Delivered as a working platform on Kubernetes through GitOps, assembled and wired for you.

What it does

Integrate

Connect every source, from databases and files to apps and event streams, through open connectors. Your data comes out of scattered silos and starts working as one.

Process and validate

Turn raw data into clean, trusted datasets and check quality on every run. You can rely on the numbers, because bad data is caught before it reaches a report.

Store

Keep all your data, structured or not, in one scalable store. No more copies scattered across tools, each drifting out of sync.

Serve and query

Deliver data to dashboards, apps, APIs and plain SQL. Everyone gets it where they already work, without a data-team ticket for every question.

Govern and secure

Control who can see what, prove it with audit logs and honour GDPR erasure, on every layer. Compliance is designed in from the start.

Run it

Ship changes through GitOps, watch everything with built-in observability and keep the whole stack as code. It runs itself, and you can see inside it.

All of it serves one goal: sovereignty.

You possess, use and dispose of your data on your terms.

In practice

One platform basis, two deployment strategies

The same platform basis serves two different contexts: a product suite running in managed cloud and an air-gapped defence deployment that is still being developed.

Running in managed cloud

For founders and product teams

A shared foundation for a growing product family

Next Learning Valley leads the product vision, learning design and value delivered to customers. HOIST IT builds the portable platform basis beneath the suite.

  • One portable basis beneath multiple products
  • AI-assisted development with expert review
  • Delivery, identity and observability built in

Air-gapped deployment in development

For regulated organisations

Designed to run without managed cloud

For AMALT, we are extending the platform basis for an air-gapped, on-premises setting where managed cloud services are unavailable.

  • Designed for on-premises and air-gapped use
  • Open standards and components throughout the stack
  • Governed analytics without managed cloud services

Product history

Shaped in practice

Requirements from live products and demanding programmes have sharpened the platform without defining where it can be used.

  1. September 2025Origin

A demanding programme informs the principles

HOIST IT joined AMALT in September 2025 as architect and platform builder. The Dutch Ministry of Defence programme brought air-gapped, on-premises requirements that ruled out managed cloud dependencies.

Those constraints informed the platform’s core principles: open standards, portability and customer control. We apply those principles across other sectors and deployment profiles as well.

  2. December 2025Architecture

    A standards-based spine

By the end of 2025 the core choices were set: containerised on Kubernetes, event-driven over Kafka, identity through Keycloak and a medallion lakehouse (bronze, silver and gold zones) on object storage. Every decision favoured open standards and portability over lock-in.

  3. February 2026Architecture

    Hardened against real requirements

In early 2026, requirements from an air-gapped public-sector programme put the architecture under pressure. We refined security, data quality and operability, the parts that decide whether a platform survives contact with a real organisation.

  4. May 2026Product

    A reusable product takes shape

By mid-2026, patterns from our product and programme work had converged in a reusable, configuration-driven platform basis. It can be operationalised across sectors and deployment profiles, including AMALT’s air-gapped setting. You describe your data in contracts and the platform turns them into pipelines, data-quality validation, storage layout, observability and access policy on Kubernetes.

  5. July 2026ProductYou are here

    V0.1 runs end to end

Where we are now. A first version of the platform runs end to end. Events flow from Kafka into an Iceberg lakehouse, medallion zones recompute incrementally and data contracts are checked on every run. GDPR erasure is handled by crypto-shredding that produces signed, independently verifiable receipts. The whole thing ships through GitOps with OpenTelemetry throughout.

Where we are heading

The roadmap

A live view of what we are building.

Now

In active development
  • Enterprise scale

Proving the platform holds up at enterprise volumes, terabytes of data across hundreds of pipelines, without slowing down or falling over.

  • Live data from your systems

Capturing changes from your operational systems as they happen, so your reports and dashboards reflect what is true now instead of last night's batch.

  • Reliable under load

Giving every workload its own room to run, so a heavy overnight job never slows down the dashboard someone needs right now.

Next

Planned next
  • Production-ready reliability

Everything a regulated organisation needs to run this in production: always-on storage, strict separation between tenants and the operational playbooks to keep it healthy.

  • Query it with plain SQL

Letting your analysts and the tools they already use query the data with ordinary SQL, no special client needed.

  • Connect more of your systems

More ready-made connectors, starting with databases and web APIs, so more of your systems can feed the platform without custom glue.

Later

On the horizon
  • Shareable data products

Curated, versioned datasets that teams across the organisation can find, trust and reuse instead of rebuilding the same thing.

  • Find and understand your data

A catalog and plain-language models on top, so people can find the data they need and understand it without reading any code.

  • Self-service for your teams

Teams set up their own data flows themselves, while the platform keeps quality and access under control in the background.

  • Make every deployment profile repeatable

Harden and package deployment profiles for EU sovereign clouds and fully on-premises, air-gapped environments, so each can be delivered repeatedly instead of engineered afresh.

Get on board

A platform that works today and keeps improving

You do not have to wait for a finished product. The platform runs now. Come on board early, put it to work on your data and help shape where the roadmap goes next.
